Fight wrinkles and scars with needling

Needling is a comparatively young method for the treatment of wrinkles and scars. With a needled scooter, the specialist, for example inAscona, Locarno, Tenero, Lugano, Bellinzona, Chiasso or Milano causes thousands of tiny wounds. Needling stimulates the regeneration of collagen and thus improves the skin structure. Improved skin quality through collagen regeneration is the idea behind this principle of needling. To reach this goal, the skin is slightly injured, as already mentioned. Collagen is formed during the onset of the wound healing process after needling, which helps tighten and strengthen the skin.

    Collagen formation with needling

As part of the scar treatment or in the fight against wrinkles, the doctor, for example in Ascona, Locarno, Tenero, Lugano, Bellinzona, Chiasso or Milano drives a needle-filled scooter on the skin area that is treated, a so-called Dermaroller. He exerts a certain pressure so that the needles penetrate into the skin and cause thousands of tiny wounds. These micro injuries caused by the needling initiate a wound healing process, in the course of which collagen is formed, which tightens and firms the skin. In this way wrinkles can be smoothed out. When needling for scar treatment, for example, the many fine pinholes break up the scar tissue and ensure a healthy skin renewal by means of collagen formation. Accordingly, the procedure of the needling by specialists from Ascona, Locarno, Tenero, Lugano, Bellinzona, Chiasso or Milano is also called percutaneous collagen induction therapy.

Special needles in needling against scars

To treat larger scars, such as burn scars, or deep wrinkles, Dermar rollers are used with three millimeters long needles. The surgery itself can be done on an outpatient basis in Ascona, Locarno, Tenero, Lugano, Bellinzona, Chiasso or Milano. Needling is in principle suitable for all body parts and all skin types. It is recommended to prepare the affected skin site for at least one month, better even twelve weeks before needling, with the local application of vitamins A and C to the procedure. This is done by a corresponding cream, which is applied twice daily to the skin area. This maximizes collagen production. Before needling, the patient receives a short anesthetic. Then the actual treatment begins with the needling. With the Dermaroller, the doctor in Ascona, Locarno, Tenero, Lugano, Bellinzona, Chiasso or Milano drives under controlled pressure vertically, horizontally and diagonally across the skin area to be treated. A therapy session in needling takes about 30 minutes.

Which are the side effects of needling?

After needling, the treated skin area is initially swollen and discolored by the small bleeding caused by the pinpricks, as if from a bruise. In the first hours after needling, wound fluid is secreted via the branch channels. Moist compresses ensure that no crusts form. For cleaning, which is done for the first time one hour after the needling, an antiseptic washing lotion is suitable. The swelling after the needling in the practice in Ascona, Locarno, Tenero, Lugano, Bellinzona, Chiasso or Milano disappears almost completely in a week. About seven days after the treatment patients are already able to work again. The micro-wounds close a few hours after the procedure. This is an advantage of needling in the context of scar treatment and treatment for wrinkles.

The skin doesn’t become thinner with needling

Ablative or abrasive methods that stimulate collagen formation, such as chemical peels, have the disadvantage that the skin is subsequently thinner and thus more sensitive to environmental influences such as UV rays. In needling, on the other hand, the epidermis remains intact after the treatment except for the punctures, the skin thickness is maintained. There are no open wounds, even pigmentation disorders or a renewed scar formation by needling are not to be feared.
